NEW PROJECT!!!! GL1100 GOLDWING... making the ultimate low budget touring bike
#101
Wicked looking wing. I have chopped several old Hondas but not a wing. I keep telling my friends I am going to do a custom wing. One thing I would like to do if I ever get to it would be to make up some bag extenders and then mount something similar to boat trim tabs on the bottom so at night (at low speed ) I could flick a switch and throw sparks. Or use the air suspension to slam the entire bike to the ground. Awesome ideas with your bike there, I am suscribing to the thread.

how about an update!
well she is about ready to hit the road... she fired up and runs, we still need to dial in her carbs and sync them, as well as set the valves, the belts are all timed and adjusted. then just final wiring, switch pannel, wire in the amps for the stereo, and she is good to go!
here are some pics
headlight off
headlight and led KC lights on (HID is going in the headlight)
cockpit
lit up
a few more LEDS will be added under the tour pack but she is basicly wired

well my brother buttoned up all the wiring last night! all we have left is to sync the carbs, bleed the front brakes, and set the valves!!!
Mike finishing up... glad he is good with wiring and patience... so well organized did an amazing job!!!
switch pannel done - they turn on specific items and glow green, one does leds, to the front, one under, one bike body, one is the saddle bag lights, one is the fog lights, one is the amp and stereo speaker, etc
ooh ya and a cig lighter plug (there is another one under the tank flap too)
**** pit view
one of those switches it set up to turn on the saddle bag lights so he can see in there at night
full color back up cam instead of lights... also works as a vid screen for music videos CAUSE THE STEREO RIPS!!!!!!!
mike is happy
waited to be dialed in tonight
put the chop on the lift for fluids and some maintence

ha ha ha well that is the best part about custom builds, some love some dont... being that this is the 8th ground up custom we have done so far this year i am sure that one of the many next ones that are done may float your fancy.. till then...
I am so so so stoked to be able to do some distance with my brother again! he can ride this sucker forever in comfort!
carb issue fixed! well for the most part, the right pipe still smokes a bit and i am not sure if that is old paint, oil, gas spill, or what... put 35 miles on her, carbs are synced, carb piston is cleaned and moving freely... just got to swap master cylinders (the one on there is leaking like crazy) rather than put in a rebuild we are just going to grab one of the others off the shelve and toss it in. here is a shot of it after my brother rode by my house, sounds awesome, looks awesome, and he is happy as hell... awesome!
we will get some day pics as soon as this rain passes over, to pumped to ride last night than take pics!
