i had a 1971 XS650, all stock. fell apart when i took it home. looked good but nothing else.

the bobbed out version looks pretty sweet but i would remove all the yamaha logos so at first glance it looks like a triumph

hell no brother... completely disagree with that Joe.. the XS650 is a classic bike and twin motor... they have a CULT like following (myself being one) this motor is super easy to work on and crazy reliable... i would rather this motor in a bobber twin build than say a Tiger 650 triumph motor (if my dad reads this he will KILL ME) but the aftermarket world for the XS yamaha's has EXPLODED in the past 3 years... some great stuff out there for that sucker... but as always just my opinion

yea i know i sold it to a guy who was CRAZY for XS's. im not really a fan of japanese bikes in the first place, but ive seen alot that were taken care of and it is a simple motor.

i was better off getting rid of it for a harley though

Thanks guys. I was really influenced by Brian Adam's bikes. He's a local builder here in AZ who used to work for Paul Yaffe. He builds some really cool, lane splitter style bikes and I wanted to catch that style with the Yamaha. Narrow, fast and devoid of any unnecessary items.

I need to figure out how I'll make the foot clutch, make a headlight mount and make another set of bars still. Got some work left but the core of the bike is there.

The XS650 twin is a great bike. I had a 78 and rode it many years.
One of my favorite bikes. Looks like you doin a good job there.
