I'm in Pa and have top notch HD dealer near me. I originally looked at the AIH but heard more bad then good.I try to take it with a grain of salt but everywhere I turned I heard problems.

it seems the folks with problems make the most noise. I also think most problems are from the individual AIH dealers. Find a good one and you will be OK.

Default Ahhhhhhhh RUN

I have been a HDservice tech for 16 years, unfortunatly went to AIH, Bourget dealers last 4 years. Have personally owned 247 motorcycles. If you want and American V-Twin, stick with HD or Victory. The rest are just expensive treadmills[&o]

I've owned 2 AIH's, I do work on a third for a buddy, and I know/ride with a few others. The people that say they are troublesome are dealing with the wrong people for support. I can verify that a lot of people have had problems with the speedometers however.

Well I 've read about the speedo problem. Is it the white face or black thats trouble ? Both?

Well the bummer is that no one in my area is a dealer for AIH. At least no one conveinent.

they don't use the black one anymore. My 04 originaly had a black one but all the replacements have been white. I think all the 05's came with white. I had 3 different white ones on my 04, the last one was trouble free. water seems to be the most common cause of failure. one time the dealer installed a new one then had their guys wash the bike before I picked it up. it failed before I made it 10 miles from the shop. he ordered a new one right then. don't hose the speedo down when cleaning the bike. I've had several white face speedos that have had small variations from the previous ones. different light placement, some have not had clear windows for the indicator lights (making them hard to see in daytime), and other slight variations.

I have an Ultra Cycle (http://www.ultracycles.com/). They were one of the first to put out a line of choppers back in the mid 90's. My bike is a 1997 softail model with a 88"S&S motor and a dry Primo primary. They had all sorts of little problems when they first came out but in time things got ironed out. They used a Kraft Teck frame for my bike but I'm not sure who is building their frames for them now. They made a Ground Pounder hard tail for a bunch of years that had a monster S&S motor that would haul major ***, like drag race rice rockets and make them think twice. I had a friend with one when they first came out and as long as you used lock tight on everything after in vibrated off the first time, you were ok. He also spent a night shrink tubing all the electrical connections and after that the bike was more reliable than a stock Harley.

Lots of dyna guys chiming in.... All I've heard is to get your hands on something harley and modify it. I'm planning on a rigid sportster frame project soon. I will provide pics when that comes together in the next few months. I'm going to buy a harley evo motor, tranny starter etc. I figure that I'd keep the guts harley and go nuts with the rolling chassis. and the flair.... I needs me a bike with apes... but i can't part with my drag bars. so i figured..... great excuse to put together a sporty chopper!!
