Default Fuel Tank Mounting Bolts

I have a Precision Cycleworks bike I am rewiring. When I pulled the fuel tank off the "nut" side of the hold down came loose from the tank. It appears to be flat nut that is epoxied into recesses in the tank, there is 4 total. The hold down bolt goes through the frame bracket and into this nut. Has anyone experienced and know what to use to reattach the nut to the recess in the tank? I am thinking a decent 2 part epoxy should do the trick but curious what others have tried.

I realize this site is for Harley's. Is there another website that someone knows that may be able to help with this question?

Or if tig weld is out of question, JB weld? Proper prepping is the trick to getting any epoxy stick. YD

Here are some pictures of what I am dealing with. I have searched all over the internet and cannot find anything like it. I cannot figure out how the rubber mounts to the gas tank itself. Would appreciate any help as the wiring is finishing up and this is the next hurdle to having this bike running again.

broken one

Good one

On my '77 FX I had mounting bushings that went into the upper cross member for the seat mounting of a LePera seat. They were a rubber bushing with an expandable mount.. 1/4x20 thread size. I think if you find something like that you can use it for your tanks. I have looked online and I can't find that type of bushing but they're out there.. this link might put you in the right direction....

thanks 98! That looks like the part, just need to figure out how it attaches to the tank. If I am looking at these correctly they thread in from both sides. I poked around with a pick in the broken one to see if i could feel what maybe attaching it but couldn't feel anything. Also tried twisting slightly to see if I could break loose. May have to get a little more aggressive. I didn't want to destroy further thinking I may be able to repair somehow though I am not sure how that will work.

It would act like a compression style bushing .. As you tighten the bolt it expands the bushing

I've seen this type of male/female isolator used in applications such as yours.

Remove the remaining rubber to give you a better idea of what you're working with. If you can get a grip on what's left, and it won't budge, It's likely threadlocker was used during assembly. Heat will soften threadlocker. Caution should be taken. Don't blow yourself up.

Check Amazon....it's a 4-pack tho

Also MSC Industrial & Grainger for singles.

Just a suggestion on removing the part still in the side of your gas tank. Rather than heat try spraying some PB Blaster under the rubber and let it soak the threads.
