1991 Custom full rebuild Sporty
Well I originally bought her 13 years ago from a friend in need of selling her for 5k with less than 2k miles on her and thought I could toy with it some. Its been a love affair ever since. She was originally an 883 XL, later upgraded and rebuilt with 1200cc heads (high polished outer shells), polished outer engine cases, heads are Ported & Polished w/custom over sized hardened valves, 590/242 lift cams, After market notched hardened 10* pistons, Hardenedrods, lifter, rockers all done, Accell ignition setup, etc. just too much to list along with a bored out intake and S&S jetted carb. The high polished 5 speed trans has some work aswell with a nickel platedO-ring chain conversion and PM 4-up sprocket setup. The swing arm is lengthened, widened and chromed. She has an 11.5" lowered Progressive suspension, PM dual piston chrome calibers and high polished PM slotted and reversed drilled rotors both front and rear with the the whole braided line thing going on. I also have theaftermarket wire harness snaked and stuffed out of eye sight. Other attributes installed or fabricated to be worn are Led custom taillight, flush mounted chrome directionals, custom done chrome fender struts, chrome high torque starter, chrome switch housing with black switches, chrome reservoirs, small tach, chrome oil temp guage, Chubby drag bars, fabricated chrome wide glide front end, Fatboy rims 5-dipped and diamond chipped, chrome PM foward controls, etc..... again much more but too much to go through. As for the tins I have a fat boy front fender with a sport bobbed rear fender, sport bob tank and keeping the stock oil reservoir I did them in a deep mirrored black laquer finish, with the Swan Song mural in memory of my father, and seven candy pearls graphics that include fade, sponged, burst, swirl and marbelizing all under a urethane clear. I originally had her built with a black and silver two tone paint and pee tank with everything stripped that wasn't necessary including pizza cutter style wheels and narrow glide front end to get her under 400lbs as much as possible and wore nitrous then, after the craze wore off and leaving enough rice rockets embarrassed on the 1/4 mile I redid her and rebuilt the motor as I explained above. I also kept her a matching number Harley Davidson through it all and yeah she is also reliable as hell..... lol.
I am getting ready for some new mods down the road as I just finished rebuilding the motor again and keeping her nitrous ready...... so I am thinking a Jim Baker six-speed trans, new exhaust pipes and get back some of that back pressure I am sacrificing, modifying the original frame dimensions, taking the fatboy rims off and using them for my softtail I am building now and going with a solid full chrome rear wheel, a 21" lace rim up front and possibly a wide glide springer front end (chrome or powdercoated), as for the front fender, I might just go without one for an old school look. oh and the tank's mural (The Swan Song in memory of my dad) is the same artwork thats on my back. Thanks for reading..........
Cheers,
