my 77 XLT sporty
Hi, I am new to this forum, but not new to H D 's Can any one give me an armchair value on my 77 XLT? I know the basics like only 1099 were made, but only a handful supposedly exist cause nobody wanted "THE BABY DRESSER" dealers stripped most of these models and sold them as basic sportsters. supposedly this is one of the rarest modern harleys. so what ever info you guys can give me would be helpful, thanks!

RE: my 77 XLT sporty
I had one of these some years ago, was the third owner. Originally it was a shrine bike and it came with all the goodies. Factory windshield, bags, crash bars, superglide style gas tank, etc. Put a lot of miles on her, only Sporty I'ved owned, but she was a real
good scooter. Tore it down rebuilt the motor and tanny and then lost interst in her. Sold her to a buddy who had never owned a Harley before. He put her back on the rode but learned he was not the Harley type and sold her. Made me real mad because he told me he would never sell her. You ought to keep her especially if she is all original. RE: my 77 XLT sporty
pics would definitely help. Yes the XLT was a rarity, especially with all the goodies still on. The industry analysts thought that to compete with middleweight tourers like BMW and Moto Guzzi at the time, they needed to offer this one. Nobody told the dealers! A real rarity from the period was the Triumph Bonneville Executive. Value can only be determined by what someone's willing to pay for.
