Does anyone know what oils I need for a 69 Harley sprint 350?

The Harley Davidson Aermacchi Sprint. Well, it's an Italian motorcycle company that HD bought back around 1964/65. There is not much information on these old bikes other that dimensions. Start out with 10w-40 non synthetic oil. If it rattles like hell, go to 20w-50.

Here you go, right out the 69 owners manual.

Make sure you pull the oil "filter" out and clean it. Its reusable. 1 up, 3 down to shift. 6 volt battery. These things are a real pile of crap. I own an original paint 69 SS 350.

The owners manual (pictured above) recommends medium heavy for normal use above 40 degrees.

I have always used medium heavy oil in all of my old bikes, Sprints and Big twins.

The cans use to say medium heavy on top, as time went on they said 40 wt. So use straight 40 weight motorcycle oil.

If you can't find that you could get away with 50 weight unless it gets really cold.

Also as mentioned on another post pull the plastic screen (oil filter) out, wash it and put back in.

If the screen is missing I would recommend getting one.

By the way the 40 weight (or 50) is for everything. The engine and transmission is all the same compartment.

Same oil fill / dipstick on right side of engine, same big drain plug / filter on bottom.

I would fall short of calling them a pile of crap but they can be bullheaded and need to be kept in tune and maintained properly to run right.

If you don't do that or don't know how it can cause a lot of headaches.
