Have anybody tried to Mount MIKUNI HS40 to 1200 Sporster? I知 trying now but it dont work at idle.
Does anybody know what jets (main and pilot) work best?
I have 1987 sportster 1220 (883 conv.) and I知 interested in something between economic riding and horsepower.

 

The HS 40 is an old carb, which went out of production about 20 years ago.

It is an excellent carb, great performance, great throttle response and easy to tune and maintain.

You can download the tuning manual, parts diagram etc from the Mikuni distributor, Sudco.

It sounds like you need to disassemble the carb and thoroughly clean it.

Yes this is great carb.
My jetts are: 17.5 and 170. I dont know - it will be fine for 1200 sporty?

 

I don`t know what jets came with my HS40, but whatever came stock in it are what I used and the bike ran great (Big Twin Evo).

The tuning manual or parts diagram available online may show what jets are standard.

 

Ive tried adjust it - nothing.
My sporty 1200 dont want work with this carb. Dont have low idle. Only up 2000RPM. When im trying make a 1000RPM - engine stops.
On my EVO 1340 works good - on sportster doesnt.
