Question Fuel Tank Vent Line

I am replacing my stock 1995 sportster peanut tank with a 3.4 gal 1972 tank. My stock tank has a vent line in it. The "new" tank does not have a vent valve. Can I just remove the line all together?

Perhaps....

If its not venting via a hose then it may be via the fuel cap. You need to double check the underside of the fuel cap to see if it has the one way valve setup in it.
