I have a 2000 screamin eagle road glide that I am swapping out the motor on - motor blew. The new engine is off of a 2001 carbed bike. I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not I will need to swap the outer cam gear in order for the MM EFI system to work effectively. The new motor has all gears versus tensioners which I would like to use but I think the MM EFI has a sending unit in the cam area that feeds off of the main outer gear. Appreciate thoughts?

I can't help directly, but you can compare the parts list of the two engines on one of the on-line parts websites, such as this one. The change to gear-drive cams may affect things, I'm not sure.

If your replacement motor was using a OEM ign module you are most likely OK. All MM EFI's used the cam position sensor and if you have doubts just pull the cam cover and the large gear will have the raised cam sensor trigger if it was using a stock ign module. If not a DTT ign module for 99-03 will do the trick as they do not use the cam sensor.
