Fuel supply valve on 98/1200 Sportster
I'm not getting fuel to the carburetor. I removed the fuel line at the carburetor no gas there. I removed the fuel line at the supply valve no gas coming out of the supply valve. Turned the supply valve from on to reserve still no gas coming out. Added more gas to make sure I had enough gas in the tank. Any thoughts before I remove the tank/supply valve?

Not sure about the Sporters but my 1998 Dyna fuel valve needs a vacuum source to supply fuel. On mine it has a vacuum hose on the back side of the valve. If this is on yours also you could put a hand vacuum pump onto it to test the valve. If still no fuel you will have to remove the valve from the tank to check the filter on it.

Hi,
I agree with ClifWideGlide. I was just searching for a solution to the same problem on my 2001 XL1200. I'd taken off the tank, chucked out the old gas, refilled and no petrol coming out of the tank. Mine has a tube which connects at the back of the fuel supply valve. The owners manual says "Valve is vacum operated and will open and close when engine is turned ON or Off".
