This is my first venture into the forum world so, please bear with me. I recently got a 1990 FLSTC with 30k on it. It had been sitting for a few years and isn't running right. I have drained the fuel, pulled the carb and cleaned it, and the fuel filter looks clean. The bike starts right up and idles ok. When you run it around 2200 rpm it will just dies after about 7 to 10 minutes and will not restart right away. After letting it sit for 30 mins or so it will start and the same thing will happen. Any advise is appreciated.

 

When the bike stops, is there any electrical power, lights, horn, will the starter spin?

 

Make sure your fuel line has the piece of ribbed cover it is there to keep heat away, then run the fuel line between the bases of the cylinders possibly what is happening is your fuel line is getting hot and "vapor locking"
