Default fuel warning light

hey guys, I may sound like a dumb ***, but does anyone know or can tell me how much fuel should be left once the fuel warning light comes on. I have a 2005 fatboy and when my light comes on, I still have two gallons left in the tank. Is this about right? Sorry about bothering you guys for something as silly as this, but to me, its something that I think I need to know. Thanks again for any info.

Really depends on where you want it to come on at. I have mine set at approx. 1 gal.
If I was riding out in the middle of nowhere I'd probably have mine set a little higher, but seeing that I'm not ever very far from gas it serves me good to have it set where it is.

You can adjust the float level arm to make it read more to your liking.

Well, I am not aware of the adjustability that mech8251 mentions. With my 5 gallon tank on the 2005 Ultra, I had one gallon left in the tank when my fuel light came on. Which is the same with my 6 gallon tank on the 09 Ultra. I hope that helps.

i dont' think you can simply "bend" the float level as mentioned. I thought this had to be done via the electrical system with the insertion of a "valued" resistor in line with the fuel guage.
