It's going to be hard for anyone to give you a solid answer on a forum. Every bike will respond differently to the suggestions you're given. The only way to know for sure is to find a dyno and see if they will run a few pulls and give you the AFR numbers. As far as starting, I never twist the throttle. I use the enrichener and then immediately push it back in when the bike fires. By doing it this way I never get any kick back. Like I said, every bike responds different.Your gas mileage is about right, you said the plugs look good (whatever that means to you), if it isn't popping and spitting just off idle you're probably good there....ride it.

Exactly. I never saw 2 bikes that liked to start the same; there's always something you can do that makes that starter or kick work less. My Herry is so cold-natured I have to leave the enrichener on for a couple blocks. Oh, and 1/2 pump of throttle with the enrichener halfway out gives it a snap start without the POW of too much gas.
If you're getting above 44 mpg or so, you're probably pretty dialed in.
I also have to use the enrichener if it sits for a little while - and I have a 50 pilot. Nothing is leaking; it's just that way.

thanks for the replies i thought i was getting it just about right Im just learning the harley came from a injected jap bike and forgot what it was like to have a carb. So far when its cold i dont have to use the enricher very long after i start it. It runs so well now Im not gonna worry much more about it.
