Backfire from exhaust and air cleaner
#11
If it was me I would take the carb apart and clean it myself with sea foam and blow out the jets with an air compressor. Also make sure the float isn't sticking and check the heigth. Seems the gasoline these days goes bad quickly and gums up the carb. Thats where I would start and then move to the ignition.

You are absoloutley correct 2006 Ironhorse LSC. When it does its thing the exhaust from the rear cylinder is cold

It wont be the compression release. I had similar problems on my 05 LSC. Dealer buddy of mine was good enough to give me parts under warranty so I could fix it myself and not have to wait. replaced ignitor- no change. replaced both coils- no change but he did give me the new deutsch plug type and the new harness for them. finally changed the crank position sensor (up by the oil filter) and problem was solved. I have an email contact for a Gill Tech Support guy that was a big help. Last I heard they were going to make their parts available to the public because AIH went under.

did you check your battery ground connection (with a wrench) loose connection might be the problem when your dealing with an ignition problem thats always the first thing to rule out ,i would also check for a pinched wire in the handlebars i had one like that one time i changed the grips on mine and no problem 2 months later after a rain it shows up ,after i rule out both of them, only then would i pursue other venues but would look towards the coil at that point
