Default Petcock / tank leak

Hi, I have a new petcock and a new tank on my sportster. I have a leak coming out of the threads. I have tightend it as tight as I can and now the valve is facing the motor and I still have a leak. Can anybody recommend a tape or sealer?
Thanks
Jeremy

Default petcock leak

White teflon tape is not recommended for fuel, just water. It can also break off into small pieces and get into the system. There is a yellow color if you can find it. Permatex PN 80019, Napa pn 765-1210 avation formula sealant is good.

I have had a carburetor inlet stop-up at the seat due some "floating" Teflon tape. The warning concerning fuel use is well taken, but I have used the Teflon paste in a tube. You can be conservative with it and you don't have loose pieces of tape floating about. It will seal, even in gas, but you better have it in the right place when you leave it alone for a while. The stuff could serve as a very good thread-locker. I have it all over the place on an EFI system running 44-pounds of fuel pressure and it has never leaked....but is very hard to break lose if you need to.
