Does the bike idle? Takes 3 circuits to start/idle/WOT. No orifice shuts down or closes off meaning. Tank's gas cap vent is closed? Battery is 12.8v or higher?

Upside down needle jet is most often the culprit and very easy mistake to make.

Take that brand new Harley cap off.

What was it doing before you cleaned carburetor? If it's cutting out instantly, it's probably electrical.

tried it with caps off, same result. yes, it cuts off instantly. when i throttle the vacuum piston goes up a little. i manually lifted the vacuum piston and gave it throttle and it revved and didn't die. could that mean there is a leak in the vacuum piston? i checked it for hole with a light and didn't see anything. thanks for your help!! if it is electrical, what would i look for?
