Default 2020 Super Glide carb

My 2000 Super Glide has continual carb issues. I have had it rejetted, retuned several times to no avail. Put on V & H pipes and retuned it. Had bike shop retune it ... to no avail. It keeps backfiring like it is always getting too much gas. Use hi octane gas only ..... so what is involved to install efi system? What is cost to convert? Or maybe better off to get different bike. THanks for any input.

I suspect the OP`s bike is 2000 model

Red, there is no reason that your carb ( or other) issue(s) can not be resolved w/o converting to EFI
Find a new mechanic or go through it yourself step by step.

The 2000 was the last year for carb. Mistake in the main heading.

Anyone know how to correct the main heading on the thread? Can I correct year to 2000? Thanks

'06 was last year for carburetors, earlier than that on some models.

Several things can cause your symptoms but a more detailed description would help narrow it down more quickly.

Does it all the time? how well does it start? is the air cleaner original or aftermarket? And is this the original CV carb?

You don't mention if the backfire is from the exhaust or intake, or if it is on decel etc. Also, I'd pull the spark plugs to read jetting and go form there. And, ignition problems can cause backfiring too.

The vacuum line between the carb and the petcock is leaking. If you can't tune the carb with the low speed needle, this is your problem.

The line can actually test good and still be bad, your going to have to put a plug on the carb fitting and hook up a different source of fuel to test it. No need to actually ride the bike, a static test will show this.
