It's a pretty standard 38mm Kehien butterfly. They used about the same ones from '76 - '89. They had a similar looking one that was Screamin Eagle branded. It was an oddball for some parts though.

Most anything you'd need for a simple rebuild is still available from a dealer or aftermarket. Search '84-'89 Harley, 1340.

* I'm assuming that's the original carb. I've no idea by the numbers. A picture of the whole thing would let us know for sure.

Thanks for the help...

The carb was a CV 40 carb from a 1988 sportster. what got me was the lack of a accelerator pump.
MOCO used the carb only that year..1989 they went to the CV 40 with the pump

Why it was on my 85 Electra glide I'll never know

here is a better pic of the carb

Yes, CV40, first "edition." They only used that none-pump version on the early 1988 Sportster.

The body is not drilled for the accelerator pump nozzle and the bowl has no pump and isn't drill and ported (internally) for a pump. The floats are round where the later ones are flat. Other than that, all the parts interchange with the '88 to '91-1/2 carbs on both Sportster and Big Twins. Actually all parts for the '91-1/2 up fit also with exception of the bowl gasket.

Someone probably converted your FLH long ago when CVs were hard to come by. After a while they were everywhere for cheap but now they've gone the other way. Still plenty around but not so easy to find one in decent shape at a low price. 1340's had a butterfly from '84 thru '89 from the factory,
