yep.... funny thing is that a cap was on it when this all started my trouble shooting? guess it blew of my last ride after jet swap. I also have a vacuum leak on the butterfly shaft. the felt washer on it

but I was surprised that the two intake seals near the jugs were still soft and rubbery, and not hard and brittle due the heat.. all looked good there

Glad you found it I’ve been there and know how frustrating it can be. Might be able to go out another 1/4 turn on the idle mixture screw to get rid of that last hiccup?

Hoping to putt around tomorrow... 55'ish bike has been hating weather under 60 lately tho! Burping and hiccups multiple times per ride.

Might have Cv40 about solved!! Got a little over a hundred miles in today and one hiccup for the entire ride.
Thanks for the suggestions and advice on how to adjust/fix the carburetor

Went back to the original jets, bike hiccuped and shut off making a turn in a busy intersection.. Tried four different jet /pilot combos? There aren't any exhaust leaks, and the intake gaskets have been replaced twice, and tested for leaks.
The only leaks I can find are on the butterfly shaft, on both sides of the carburetor.

Man, if it was me I’d try a new carb at this point. You can get a knock off cv40 on eBay for $40 or maybe try a mikuni or S&S if you don’t mind dropping the coin. Pretty soon the weather is going to be too nice to be fighting with it instead of riding.

A friend of mine has one on his Low Rider and loves it, it was on the bike when he bought it. They don’t mention clearance issues in the instructions maybe someone that has installed an HSR 42 will chime in.
