I know that these carbs get a bad rap but I have one on my 67 Sporty. Bike runs well with it and it is the original for this year but it seems to be running too rich. If I turn the intermediate screw in to lean it out it will start to miss under acceleration so I turn it back out to get it to run as it should. When I pull the plugs they look quite black but not fouling. Is it possible that my needle is not closing off tight enough and is letting excess gas into the venturi to give me this issue? The adjustments idle and intermediate seem to be dialed in just getting quite black plugs. Any guidance will be appreciated.

 

How is the state of your ignition system and parts. Make sure that you dont have an ignition issue before you move to the carb. P

I am going to replace plug wires just because. Timing with light spot on new plugs points gap spot on just r&r yesterday with new mani clamps that I had so will see today. Thanks for the reply
