Default Keihin carb

I am looking for an OEM Keihin 40mm carb. I have tried googling but only seem to find no-name brands making replicas. I am hoping someone's google fu is stronger than mine. I am currently running a Mikuni HSR42 but it seems the float is stuck. My mechanic tried to clean the carb with no luck so he suggested replacing it. I am hoping if I swap it back to the Keihin I can get back a little bit of my MPG. Riding 140mi round trip every day adds up when I am stopping at a gas station twice a day.

Good Luck! The dealer will sell you one new, $385. Try a swap meet instead, or maybe a near by salvage(junk) yard. I don't think searching the interweave is going to find much.

If all else fails, there is a large S&S crowd on here and they seem to like them just fine.

unless there is damage to the carb body itself, the float assy can be changed or fixed.
sounds like the mechanic lacks experience, wants to sell parts or does not want to deal with the issue.
70 miles to a 3.5 gallon tank does sound excessive but then again
my 01 sport will do near 60 mpg being babied and very low 30's mpg being cranked up.
i am not stock by any means but ride style makes a diff.

You have the best carb. I’d fix and tune what you have vs replacing the carb.

IF you want a replacement there is H-D repair shop in Cornelius OR ( on Craigslist) who has them.
Or could repair the gas hog that you have
26 MPG is ridiculous

I know this is an ancient thread... But 27 mpgs.. That sucks!
I was getting 49.7 with 200 main jet, dropped to a 195 and went to maybe 41 mpg...

But 27 mpg..... That thing would be replaced..

Hope you fixed your issues tho OP

You get significantly better MPG with a larger main jet?
