So I just agreed to buy a 2000 FXR4(14k miles only $8500). So instead of trying to sell my current 1997 FXDWG I want to make it into something obnoxiously loud for bar/crusing in the local neighborhoods. Performance be damned. The FXR is now that for me. I have VH short shots and I will debaffle and use DK torque inserts to help with the back pressure/air flow.



Question is, is a size up in jetting on both pilot and main a mandatory thing? Would the insert use negate to upsize? Currently running CV w 48/180 and no shim on the needle. Ness big sucker 2 air cleaner, no cam upgrades or anything like that

 

I generally pizz people off effortlessly, some of us are talented...

 

Install the exhaust first and take her for a test ride before changing the carb. I have had bikes run better with a new exhaust and therefore needed no adjustments. Good luck.
