Default Carb jet needle wear.

These pics are from my 1995 FXD.
The first pic is of the stock (as delivered) jet needle. (Only about 2000 miles on it.)

After 20+ years and lots of miles (>120,000), this 2nd pic is of the needle that comes with a "DynoJet" kit. Yes, after all those miles, it wore a small "pintle."

The bikes mannerisms went from "how it always ran" (quite good actually,) to a lope similar to a HUGE cam, to not running very good at all. All within 300-400 miles.
I'm suspecting ethanol had something to do with this erosion. As a precaution, I replaced the main jet too.
Anyway, here you go~

Much more likely to be physical contact between needle and jet IMHO, I can't imagine ethanol 'eating' it away. Long time since I had a carb Harley, so can't compare!

My Yost needle after 45k. Note the tip and c-clip notches. Never noticed it till I pulled the slide to bevel it. They replaced it free of charge, great service.
