CV help
I'm new to the CV carb, I bought this 99 FXR2 last fall and really haven't done anything besides ride it. Now I need to take care of a few issues.
First off pipe & intake is all that is done to her.
When starting it hot (Shut it off to get fuel and firing it right back up) she will backfire then start.
Just cruising and nailing the throttle sometimes she will stumble then take off, other times it's fine. (Needle issue?)
I'm not sure if it has been jetted or not, there was a bit of blueing on the head pipes when I bought it and i polished all that out, pulled the plugs and they were black.

If you haven't done anything, I'd start with a fresh set of plugs. If someone left the enricher on and the plugs took a hit, it might be as simple as installing a fresh set.
If the problems still persist, then you will have to drop the bowl and see what jets and emulsion tube are in it.
Keep us posted.

Sounds like its lean to me. With pipes and filter you should be running 46 or 48 pilot 185 or 190 main with the mixture screw set about 2 turns out. Bucking and coughing while cruising with popping on the overrun and or through the air filter indictees to me it's rather lean on the pilot jet circuit. Hope you get it sorted.

You're not hitting the throttle and giving it a squirt when it's hot, are you?
You can check intake gaskets by spraying brake clean at the when the bike is running ... It will pick up if the intake is sucking air ... Just make sure you're not spraying into the back of the A/C ... And only a TINY spray ...
