Lately my carbed 88 has started "spitting" whenever I crack the throttle. It is so bad that the engine will shut off if I am not quick to back and re-apply the throttle. It usually does this when idling. Any thoughts?

 

Something is causing you to run lean most likely. Could be manifold leak or it could be a mis-adjusted accelerator pump.

Sounds like a lean condition.
As already mentioned, a leak at the intake manifold?
