Default Another bloody oil question

Sorry to bring this subject up again but where in rural Canada do you find your motorcycle oil. I live 50 km from Brandon Mb and its about 300 to the closest HD dealer. I figured I'd just put in Mobil 1 V Twin but my oil dealer says its discontinued in Canada. My next choice was Rotela T6 but I only see it in 5 /40 and I'm thinking that's a little light. So I'm just wondering what your using and where you can find it in the more rural part of Canada.

Look for an Amsoil dealer in your area. I run synthetic Amsoil in both bikes.

It's not the "lower" number that would be of concern to you. It's the "upper number." Besides, you're in Canada. A lower number might be beneficial as far as getting oil to critical engine parts quicker upon startup. Rotella would be my choice. (In fact, it is!)

Ok thanks guys. I would go Amsoil syn but googling Amsoil just got me a dealer in Winnipeg which is still a little over 250 km away. Canadian Tire and Wally World both sell the RotellaT6 but like I'd stated before all I can find it in is 5W40 which is likely still my better choice than some cheap generic Canadian Tire oil. Please chime in with your opinions. Thanks

Depends where you live in relation to Brandon. You do know that there a Harley Dealer in Morden, MB right?

Yes I've heard lots of good things about Gaslight at Morden but I'm west of Brandon so I've got 4 dealers all between 2 1/2 to 3 hours away Regina , Yorkton , Morden and Winnipeg. Its not that I'm a dealer hater its just a distance deal.

Try castrol v twin synthetic. It should be available at auto parts store. Also check on line.

X2. This is an excellent outfit to deal with.

SWMB, IMHO you should google up some info regarding synthetic oil vs conventional (Dino), so you know why, then go with a branded "Synthetic" oil of your choice. Wax is a killer in our colder climate and you can bet that cheap CT stuff, in particular, is full of it. Group IV and V synthetic oils contain no wax whatever. FYI group III is contentious in that regard.

BTW, my logistic situation on the east coast has similarities, for some items, to yours. If there is a border town mailbox service like "Package Depot" just across the US/Canada line and you don't mind bulk purchases, tripping across the border to stock up can expand your choices remarkably. Package Depot opens and maintains accounts for free and charges 3 bux a package when you pick em up. At the border you pay only Canadian sales tax. "Canada's Motorcycle Store is still my preference "if" they have what I want. My preferred oil brand is "Red Line" so I buy it on Amazon and pick it up at Package Depot myself along with any other items I want from the US.

Castrol is Group III. Though they won their court case, launched against them by Mobil, and hence the right to market their oil as a "synthetic", their oil did begin its life in the ground and is not "constructed" from scratch like Group IV or Group V "Synthetics". Just so you know.
