Default Maybe an electric supercharger...

I found this on the SAE website. Seems to me a motorcycle would be the perfect application for an electric supercharger. You wouldn't have to engineer an elaborate drive system. This one spins to 70,000 rpm in 350ms.

Dale, how did that turn out ? we are developing a Small supercharging kit for Sportsters , Buell XB12R Firebolts (GRBROWN how would you like to make your Buell XB12R fast enough to blow away squids on 1000cc Gixers LOL) And a Briggs and Stratton 1000cc liquid cooled V-twin put into a 6 speed Harley Electra Glide Ultra.

But electric motors have progressed in leaps and bounds . The electric supercharger is the future in engine development. The advancement in fuel economy using small engines to power large vehicles is going to show up in mass production within 3-5 years at the latest . the consept has been used in large tractor trailers for years.

I never really had any plans to adapt one of these to my bike. I thought it was an interesting concept and might work well on a Harley. It would be cool to see a bike that has it.

Bl**dy thing's quite fast enough, thanks! I remember riding it away from the showroom when new, with the salesman's words still fresh in my ears, about keeping it down to a certain rev limit and realising that was faster than I normally travel!

A little extra GO for the Glide would be of more interest.....

That's fascinating stuff. I'll be keeping an eye open for more news.

Added: I've just read the link again and realised that my newly purchased headlamp is a Valeo. I'm obviously on side....

Thumbs up

Idly looking around I discovered this press release by Valeo. It seems their electric supercharger has British origins! Cheers!
