Default ASWC-1 / Metra install AND PROGRAMMING (left push as MUTE) Guide

4/12/2017: UPDATED LINK!!! as Dropbox link was messed up

I felt the need to prevent others from struggling with the very cumbersome instructions on the ASWC-1 programming on our Harleys - took me freaking 4 hours to sort it out, but got it working.

Required are:
Metra 99-9600 kit (you need the cable unless you want to cut and splice) - for 30 bucks or less, not worth it
ASWC-1 (can be found for about 50 bucks)

The install guide does not handle the install of the metra bracket as that one is fine from the vendor.

see the link below for downloading the guide (4 pages).

I will ask UltraNutz to stick it if he agrees....

UPDATE 7/31/2015 - New version of the manual, to include the new Metra harness (the one with the pink white wire).

NEW LINK per 4/12/2017:

Why did you want to go this route vs keeping your BT control kit that you already had installed?

nothing wrong with the BT... BUT... I am one of those that has the Power Vision as well and they do not like each other - look in the Audio Threads for more details. I run PV permanent on the bike...

also, did not use AVC of the BT and also I wanted the MUTE!!!

Well, those are all very good reasons. Good write up, by the way.

excellent job putting this together!

I saw the same thing with the manual - the light flashes listed half the time are the wrong color or in the wrong sequence. My manual said LED will light up green when it is programmed so I programmed it 4 times waiting for a green light. It is a solid red light.

Great product but their documentation sucks.

glad to help out - that manual is
a. WAY to SMALL of a print (guess I am getting old - need reading glasses!)
b. it is just not funny to page back and forth while trying to program it with the "18" steps

also unbelievable they cannot determine the right colors on the led.
Guess their QA person is color blind icon_goofygrin:

I looked at the other options, but on the xxx-2013 modules you only have 6 controls... the one thing that is too bad is the ASWC-1 does not recognize the long push up and push down on the right handlebar side. BT DOES :short next song, long fast forward in the song when I am referring to USB audio source.

Here is another product that you could add for streaming from NAV-TV

NTV-KIT510

Tablet and Smartphone Audio and Safety Integration is Now Simple, Crystal Clear and Wireless!

The StreamBlue is an universal interface that allows you to control your Smartphone or Tablet from your factory steering wheel controls and stream high-quality audio through the RCA or S/PDIF outputs.

StreamBlue is a super high-quality Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR (extended data rate) audio streaming interface that provides a seamless and secure bi-directional wireless connection with your tablet or smart phone.

The included and selectable analog RCA or digital S/PDIF (electrical coaxial) outputs allow the StreamBlue to be used by directly connecting to a factory or aftermarket audio input, aftermarket amplifier, or to a third party audio processing unit with either analog RCA or digital S/PDIF input.

StreamBlue supports pairing of up to 8 different devices and provides a 12 volt, 1 AMP remote output whenever a Bluetooth connection is active. Additionally, when used in an application where a tablet or smart phone is used to replace the factory radio, the StreamBlue, coupled with a vehicle-compatible steering wheel control interface from PAC©, Metra© or iDatalink©, allows steering wheel control functionality for safety.

Compatible with the following SWC interfaces:

 PAC® SWI-RC/X

 Metra© ASWC-1

 iDataLink© Maestro
