actually IMO it does not matter where you cut it... before or after. AFAIK the connector is pink white in and 1 wire out.... but I prefer to cut it on the opened wire harness part as I had "opened" it before due to Yaffe monkeys.

Sorry for the late reply - your Q got buried...
Metra goes in from the back...oopppssss gotta be careful nowadays - inappropriate s.xual content LOL

I mean bracket is goes into fairing from within the fairing. so you are good to go... it looks a LOT like stock HU outside. i can recall it has the same type of weatherstrip. I kept the bracket I had... Cannot call the vendor out as it might get me into trouble (LOL2), but it is the one that does Bike (elec)tronics.
sold it together with the BT100x to a fellow (ex?)forum member so cannot physically look at it.
hope this helps

Okay, need some confirmation on connections. Metra 99-9600 kit, ASWC-1, being connected to a Kenwood HU.

If my understanding of what I've read is correct the following is how the connections are made.

1. ASWC-1 wiring harness not used.
2. Metra wiring harness gets red, black, and yellow connected to red, black, and yellow on the radio harness.
3. Female 3.5 jack from ASWC-1 kit gets connected to brown wire to blue/yellow from radio harness (brown/white not used).
4. Pink/white from handlebars left side (sitting on bike) gets cut and handlebar side gets grounded to either cig lighter ground or frame. Other end of pink/white gets isolated.
5. Connect the two 3.5 jacks, the Metra 23 pin plug to the factory wiring harness and the 12 pin end to the ASWC-1 black box.
6. proceed with programming.

Is this correct or have I mixed something up? Thanks!

Mike I don’t remember the individual colors....but the steps you mention seem correct. Auto programming worked for me. Just follow the reset procedures by AAWAV and it picked up my Sony. Was pretty easy of an install once I figured out which instructions to follow.

Mike - you are correct.
in this case I assume the Kenwood does not have a 3.5mm female connector build in... in that case you will need to use the provided female connector and connect to the Head Unit.

Awesome, thanks! You are correct on the 3.5 plug. The only one built in to the unit is for the external BT microphone. So the ASWC-1 provided one gets connected via the brown wire to the blue/yellow on the HU harness. The brown/white doesn't get used. The install and auto-detect went smooth. Thanks again!
