Default Speaker Wire Question??

Hey guys, finally starting to wire up the Kicker speakers I have (thanks for the help Ultranutz) and I'm wondering, should I use a larger gauge speaker wire? I know back in the day, when I was into car audio we always used a larger gauge speaker wire. Not sure if that's still the case...

I did. Front fairing and rear bags. Not sure it's necessary as it's really short lengths compared to a car but I had it laying around so why not.

I always use 12 gauge wire. I know its not necessary...probably a bit overkill, but its only a few bucks more at best buy.
