Default Disappointed with Power Acoustik RZ4-2000D

Not long ago, I decided to add lowers and put speakers in them. Previously, I had a Sony head unit, a Rockford Fosgate PBR 300x2 amp, and Polk MM651's. I added a pair of Infiniti 62.11's, but my amp was only 2 channel so I temporarily ran both pairs off it. After some threads here about it, I tried the RZ4-200D. I'm no audiophile, but I can say the 2 channel amp driving 4 speakers performed better than the 4 channel amp. I set gains using UltraNutZ's by ear method listed in the stickys and they are set at about 2 o'clock. Other settings are factory. The PBR was louder with my volume set at 25 (out of 50) than the new one is at 29. If you find yourself replacing your PBR, don't do it. Just add a second one. Think that's what I'm going to do. It'll have to wait until I get back from Sturgis though.

Just to make sure we are apples to apples you ran the 2 Ohm infinity's and the 2.7 Ohm Polks in parallel off just the one PBR300X2?

Yeah. . That set up would be super loud considering you were operating the amp off 1 ohm. I'm surprised the amp didn't over heat. Given the power of the X2 and the way you had it set up I can see how you would be disappointed with the RZ4. My comparison was to the Sound stream 520.D which only produces 130 watts at 2 ohms. You should be very happy with two PBR's with the Polks and the Infinity's. If you are interested in selling the RZ4. I'll buy it.

I gotta say that my PBR300x2 pushing my Kickers/Focals in parallel does kick ***! For heat, I had a buddy from the local Radioshack pick me up one of these.. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2102826
I double side taped it(raised about 1/4") on top of the amp Very quiet and it does draw heat from the amp. That said, I am hankering for a BT4180 so I can fade and adjust bass levels to my rears.
