Default FLHTP Audio speakers?

Have two FLHTP/ His and hers. In an attempt to be frugal since I have not one but two in need of tunes Here is my component list
- Kenwood KMR-D558BT head unit
- Soundstream-PN4.520D amp(class-D and bridgeable) NOT IN YET.
-ARC audio 6.5 adapters
And lastly where I believe a wrong choice was made
-JBL GTO638 3-ways
As a wise husband installation on my machine is first (learn from my install then do it better on the Lady's machine) speakers sound fine at 40mph or under but anything above and all there is are highs & mid tone no low end at all, hell even at low speeds lows are virtually none existent.
Now in the garage I hooked the amp up and lows still not what I'm looking for; so I thought maybe the large cone was restrictive in its movement by the covers and I made standoff's (1/2") so they could breath better; no help on lows.
So I read and read way to many threads on speakers and I can not pony up for the biketronic, hog tune speakers, infinity opinions seem 70pro/40con and polks seem 50pro/50con .
I was wondering if I could get input on speakers the would like the amp output I choose the would get me some decent lows at freeway speeds.
Thank for your time to post advice!
Regards Silver
P.S: I would post pic but my privileges are not there yet.

Your best economical option on a budget with the 520.D for a system with decent lows at speed are the Polk MM651 speakers if you buy them from an authorized dealer. Be advised that the Polk speakers have had some issues and many people have sworn off the Polks for life. I'm not one of those people. They are still the best economical set up on a budget if you can find a good series from an authorized dealer. To find the bass you want at speed will require you to upgrade to the Biketronics 7.1's and Pioneer 6 X 9 speakers. An option that's obviously not feasible given the fact you have to buy for two bikes. I've ran about every decent speaker you can run in a bike and my opinion is solely based on that experience. If you are gun shy about the Polks your second best option is going to be the Kicker CS67 speakers. Hope this helps!

Thanks Gannicus,
I am going to try the Polks mm651 in one machine. has anyone tried the Polk Audio AA2653-A MM6501UM did not find same intermittent complaints as the MM651's?
Also was wondering if It was necessary/good idea to add the 1/2" stand offs as I did?
Would post pics though have not received those privileges yet.

The Polk Marine rated UM speakers have fixed grills and will not fit in the upper fairing or the rear pods. The 1/2 inch stand offs are not needed. Just need a good speaker in there. Keep in mind the Polks have crossovers about the size of a deck of playing cards and they will have to be mounted in the fairing.

Thanks again G!
will remove the stand off's and location for crossovers will most likely be the fairing supports.

Default police bike head unit

relocated left&right harnesses from point A to B to make room for amp.
The SCOSCHE HD7000B 96-12 install kit fit perfect in the 2013 fairing.
Anybody with a FLHTP 2013 interested in installing a headunit and speakers
that would like to view my install for ideas or learn from my mistakes, just ask and I will start a new thread from start to finish.

Default polks mm651's and amp installed

Thanks Gannicus!!!
The Polks thump compaired to the JBLs, and the dam things like power.
I bridged the amp which would push the Polks but the gains are set down at around 4-5v. thump thump thump am very pleased with these for the price.
if the Biketronic 7.1 performs better the grips must vibrate like an industrial vibrator.
the weekend will bring on the test at speeds.
One thing I did not like wasting time on was fabricating amp brackets, any suggestions?
thanks again G.

Great Job SB! Great to hear it worked out! I've always loved the Polks! But after 9 sets of speakers going south on me. I had to tap out! (I had to replace my upper, lowers and rear pods 3 times) I hope you have much better luck than I did. It's a strange thing. Some guys have not ever had a problem and some guys have reported going for a 100 mile ride and having an issue? One other thing. . . Industrial strength Velcro is all you need to secure the soundstream to the radio. . . lol I've completed several installs with the Velcro and no one has had a problem yet including myself. Some guys secure the amp with a large cable tie for insurance but it's not necessary. When you upgrade the wife's bike check it out!

That Sound stream is a great little amp. I didn't lose FM reception with mine though...
