TS-D 6.5s or stick with the 62.11i
I am getting ready to install this SS TN4.900D amp. The specs on it state that @ 2 ohms, it puts out 225 watts per channel. The 62.11i is rated at 225w max. The TS-D 1702R will handle 300 watts max. I figure since I am so happy with the TS-D 6902r, and I have the 1702R on the wifes bike, maybe I should go with those and remove the 62.11s.
The only reason I am concerned is because that SS amp will be pushing 225 watts RMS to 62.11 speakers that can only handle 225 max. If I have my volume turned up loud, that amp will exceed that 225 for sure. What are you guys' thoughts on this???

you can always reduce Gain on the amp @ your max HU volume setting to reduce "RMS" output to speakers. Better too much Power than not enough, right?
where are you putting the Amp?
I have not had the opportunity to "bench test" the 4.900 but SS 4.520 came out a bit lower than specs said (test was conducted with resistive load, clean sine test signal and o scope)... like probably most amps will.

I'd say the sound quality of the 62.11I is probably better than the Pioneer speakers but only your ear can tell you that. I wouldn't worry about the W as you likely never be at that range anyways.
The big thing I would pay attention to hence the reason for my comment above, is the sensitivity ratings of the 2 speakers.
88db Pioneer vs 95db on the Infinity. Granted they are measured 1w/1m vs 2.83v but in the end of the equation the Infinity will still play roughly 3 or 4db louder than the pioneer and IMO the Infinity speakers are a much cleaner sounding speaker.
I like the Pioneer 6x9s (TS-D6902R) because they sound pretty good and their bass output is to be reckoned with. Aside from that in a sound quality vs sound pressure test, hands down IMO goes to Infinity.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt in danger of blowing the infinity speakers with the 225 watt rms. And as far as mounting the amp, I will have one in each bag. The left side amp will power all the speakers on the left and the right side vice versa. I plan on adding an additional pair of 6.5 kappas in the lower fairings that I have yet to buy because I have a heavy breather intake that wont work with the fairing lowers. So all in all, I will have 2 pairs of infinity kappa 62.11s and 2 pair of pioneer ts-d 6x9s and two SS 4.900 amps pushing them.

I realized that after I typed it. I meant front and back...lol. I was thinking something else as I was typing.

keep in mind Ultra and I cannot go thru the same door regarding how to dial in amp. But I followed similar bench test process as the youtube video mentioned in one of the posts in the thread above. findings are in the thread... I am still happy with the SS4.520 (would like to drive the Pioneers a bit more though)
