That wouldn't be too difficult, I'd try the better spec/way cheaper speaker first. If you didn't like them, you wouldn't be out much. If you couldn't hear those going down the highway, you might need a hearing aid !!

 

I've put their 8" in autos and they sound GREAT! Course the boxes were designed, built, and tuned specifically for that speaker but nonetheless, INCREDIBLE!

I wouldn't get too wrapped around axle on claimed manufacturing spk specs. Best to hear them in person. Old adage numbers lie and liars figure holds a lot of truth sometimes.

 

Actually, the adage is: Figures don’t lie, but liars figure....but, why do you think that JL would purposely put bad numbers on their product ??? Makes no sense to me....you'd think that would hurt sales !!

Wonder if you could get them your paint code, and have their painter color match before shipping ?? Could save you a couple of bucks, plus, they'd be ready for install when you get them ! They might even cut you a deal on their 'recommended' speaker / amp package !

Either way, you're WAY ahead of the game already !

Either way I'm in good shape... I just re-did my lids with hogtunes lids and biketronics speakers so I'm set. Not sure the 8.8's will be better or not.... I'm happy I won something. Worse case scenario if I don't like them once I get them in hand they will be for sale... Either way I won..... Winning!

 

Sounds like you already have a great setup, I personally would hate to spend a bunch more money on the 8.8s unless you just really love the look or something.

 

I agree Ridedaddy, not to mention the money I get if I decide to sell them could buy me a NEW amp... ahahahahahahahah
