Default 4.3 radio no playlist

Since the day I bought my bike I've had serious issues with the radio, last weekend I took it to the local shop and finally got it replaced.

The new issue, and maybe I'm missing something, is that no matter what iPod or USB stick I put in I can't get the radio to recognize a playlist (kind of sucks flipping through 3K songs). I tried an old one, and a brand new ipod, also tried 2 different USB sticks as well. The first USB stick I used the radio would only recognize 3 songs on it, the other it read all songs, both had the exact same songs on them. Not the end of the world and I'm happy as can be that my radio isn't going berserk any longer.

Am I missing something or do I need to take it back and talk to the techs?
