Default audio cutting out........

I have a 2009 Ultra and have a new problem out of the blue. I can listen through the headset no problem at all. When I switch the 3 way speaker switch to middle or external speaker it may work and it may not. If it does it may play through the speakers fine for a minute or twenty minutes and then it shuts off. It plays in the up or headset position all the time with no problem there. I thought it was the 3 position switch and replaced it as it comes as a switch set and harness. No avail as I still have the same issue. It seems to be a loose wire somewhere and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem previously............I have a 8 speaker set-up and love to CRANK it and cruise, please help.

Call iron cross here in Oakland NJ. Ask for Tony.

Broken circuit boards in the head unit. The radio will need to be repaired. You also may have some riser bolts that need to be replaced.

It's got to due with inferior solder points on the board done on the line at HK.
Pretty common. Mine drove me crazy going in and out until iron cross fixed it like 3-4 years ago. Still all good.

Not a solder joint issue.
In fact, the solder connections on that radio are great.
HK US factories still used lead based solder...connections are superior to anything we've seen come out of Europe or Japan in recent years...and don't get us started on China...

talked to Tony yesterday, said radio corrected. He talk me through some inspections and sent me the Service Bulletin on the riser bolts. I have them replaced and ready to get the HK unit back, installed, and cranking while riding.
