Default Preout Voltage

I'm researching several different headunits and trying to decide what features and benefits make the most sense for me.

I do have a question I tried the search but still didn't fully answer my question.

The higher the preout voltage the better? Is a headunit with 5 volts considerably better than a 2 volt unit? It will be paired up with a pbr300x2 & BT 7.1's.

Thanks

Per UltraNutz and others minimum is 4V - the "higjher" the better. I use pre-outs (4V) on my deck (had PBR300x2 and now SS 4.520).

you can alwaysa use speaker outputs if needed.

If that is the only amp you are going to use, pre-outs don't mean anything. No matter the pre-out voltage, the pbr300x2 likes the speaker level inputs, so you won't be using the RCA's.

I'm running preamp outputs from my Sony GS500R to my PBR300x2, 5 volts, sounds great! Preamp outputs give a cleaner signal to your amp, as long as the voltage is high enough for sufficient volume I would always use the preamps, YMMV.

I would use the RCA's for that one.

I tried the 4 volt RCA's from my Kenwood. The pbr responded better with the speaker level inputs. Don't notice any distortion with that channel compared to the ones using the RCA's on the BT4180.
