Default HD 6.5" boom speaker upgrade

Anyone installed the 6.5" Boom upgrade fairing speakers in a 2014 touring bike? Just the fairing speakers, no amp. If so, what do you think of them? I just put them in my new Streetglide and I am pretty disappointed. I previously had the Boom faring speakers in a 2012 Streetglide and found them to be big improvement over the stock speakers. But the Boom upgrade for 2014, not so much. The sound is pretty flat - it almost seems like they tuned them to stay away from any highs or lows so they could play louder without distorting. Am I missing anything in tuning them?
Thoughts??

I don't have any experience with the 14s but I will tell you that the BA is a decent upgrade from stock on previous models. What you can try is pulling the speaker out of the box it's in and stuff some polyfil down in the box. That should help out...

Just an update for anyone thinking about these speakers. They need an amp even though the P&A book doesn't tell you that. Without the amp they are muddy and flat - unless you crank the volume all the way up and then they distort. The stock speakers sound much better with just the stock radio. I removed them and went back to the stocke 5.25" speakers - much better. I will wait a bit to see how the aftermarket develops.
For now, don't waste your $$ on the Boom components unless you are prepared to spend big - and then the quality is mediocre at best.
