What exactly does it do?

I just finished installing Boom Saddlebag Speakers.
I decided not to go with an amp since it's plenty loud enough for me.
Love the way they look and sound.

I've heard that the sound equalization software will install a fader but does it do anything else?

It has what I call a bass boost feature. Increases signal output by what I would guess to be maybe 2 or 3db. There is no documentation on it, and asking a dealer tech or HD customer service to explain it will undoubtedly render the "deer in the headlight" look
