Killer stereo in 96 Electra Glide Ultra?
I am thinking of purchasing a 96 Electra Glide Ultra. Think it is possible to put a *killer* stereo in it? I see 96-97 seem to have its own fairing. Looks like I am stuck with 3.5 or 4" speakers. Was thinking of possibly moding the lower fairing like they do with a modern bike and maybe fashion a way to put a 5"? I do not know the measurements. However, I do want to put a modern 80mph stereo in. I was thinking of trying to stay with an evo motor. Any thoughts?

Look here thats not right I have a 1996 FLHTC
Inner fairing has stock 4 inch but the 4 inch are on 5 1/4 adapters as the fairing holes are for 5 1/4 speakers.
Check out my install on 1996 FLHTC I used 6.5 inch on adapters

I am guessing you will have the same main fuse/CB panel above stock radio and a cable driven tach to work around
Email me if need more info
1996 FLHTC is a problem installation, cable driven speedo, main fuse panel above radio and cable in way of right side fairing install
I was really tired of a radio with cassettes...where do ya buy cassettes anymore??? Speakers were 4 inch from factory
Selected a Kenwood head unit with HD radio, aswc-1 steering wheel adapter, Kenwood 6.5 speakers, Scosche mounting kit for radio and speakers. Their radio kit pushes radio toward rider more and allows the amp space to be mounted. I did not like the adapters from them but they worked.
I choose a Alpine compact amp as it was the only one that would fit where I wanted to mount it
Kenwood unit mounted
MY amp bracket in the raw
Cycle Accessory Splash guard did not fit exactly with this mount due to depth of shield and available space. I lined outside edge with thin foam tape and it now fits
Speaker adapters allowed use of braces
EVO BT clutch cover oring fit Scosche kit to seal it to fairing
MY splash shield for radio in case on leakage
Lined nose of radio plate with foam to ensure a seal there as well
Test fit of wiring in bike most connections done by de-pinning factory connector shells and crimping sockets to new wiring
Final wiring inserted in wiring woven looms for protection and bundled up
Amp is actually bolted onto mount with allen heads zip tie is a back up and held ace during assembly
so see us guys with older bikes can upgrade too....feel free if ya have questions and are trying to do an older bike
