Default what 6.5 speakers for the farring on a street glide

Im looking to up grade my speakers and deck and also the soundstream 2.350
I havve the lower farrings on my bike and I may want to add speakers to the lowers as well

i went to a local stoar that dose bikes they had the focal pc 165 i think they were
339.99 i wanted to listen to them but the guy could not get them to come on in the store and they were pushing the ARC amp that i dont want

i coulld not find any othe dealer around here that has focal speakers I would like to hear them

my question is is it worth spending the extra $$ on the higher end focal like the K2 or is there another speaker i should look at am I going to heare a difference on a bike I dont want the polk speakers not sure if they would handle the power I know more power is better then less power for a speaker but I have read some of the polks blowing up

Thanks Tim

Since you say you're not interested in the Polk MM651's, I would recommend the Biketronics BT7PI or Titan II's. Either would sound awesome with the SS PN2.350 and they come with adapters and a lifetime warranty. If you're sure you'll be adding speakers to the lowers in the future, I would seriously consider the SS PN4.520 to run all 4ch.

I have 2 sets of Focal PC165 now in my upper fairing and lowers running with a SS 4.520 amp. They sound great for the money but some will say the upper line of Focal is better. The upper line is hundreds more. I'm going to try a set of BT 7.1 in the upper fairing soon...just to see how good they really sound. There's so much talk about them. I will be selling 1 set of my Focal PC 165's soon. I paid around $350.00...will be selling for $175.00 most likely.

The SS PN2.350 is a 2ch amp and is stable down to 2 ohms so if you go with four 4 ohm speakers you could wire them in parallel, the amp will see a 2 ohm load, but each speaker would only get around 57W RMS. Running four speakers with a 2ch amp will effectively cut the power to each speaker in half. If you want the system to sound great at highway speed, each speaker should have it's own channel to maximize power IMO. The SS PN4.520 will give you 100Wx4 channels at 4 ohms. Another thing too think about if you're not already aware, the SS amps will more than likely cause FM issues.

I wouldn't worry about blowing the Polk's. I think the Polk mm series is rated for a higher RMS than the Focals (100w vs. 80w).

I have read a few post here that members are blowing their MM651's where the tweeters are melting off or something like that. It could be the way the gain on the amp is being set. The Focal PC165 can handle the power of the SS 4.520 amp.

Personally I don't think the Focal PC speakers are worth the $s. K2s are really good and if ya sit in the lot listening to your bike maybe worth it. Not sure ya are going to tell much difference down the road between most of the better speakers? Speakers are really very subjective. What sounds good to you is what counts. Listen to them and make your choice.
