Ok so I've decided Im going to move my BT Titan II's to my lower fairings and run a new set of BT7P1's in the upper fairing I plan to run them in parallel. I would like to know what amp would be the best choice? The 2 in question are the

Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2 or the
Soundstream PN2.350D

Also I see theres so much emphasis on the Polk audio MM651's So Im not opposed to running a set of these Instead as they seem to get rave reviews but would they work for this set-up?

Why would you run them in parallel, .........or do you have rear speakers too ?? Do you have an amp now ??

My current set-up is a Sony head unit, BT444 amp and a set of BT Titan ll's in the fairing. Everything is from biketronics. So to answer ur questions yes I have an amp already. No I do not have rear speakers nor do I ever plan on it. I was under the impression that running them in parallel would give me more power to each speaker.

 

you are correct with the parallel wiring statement but what GP is going for here is sound stage presence with the use of a 4 channel amp and your fader. This will allow you to fade to lowers a bit because once you get moving you're going to need that ability as you'll find that your lowers simply wash out.

 

So you guys are saying to go with a 4 channel versus a 2 channel is that correct? Also by going with a 4 channel vrs 2 channel will I be giving up more power to each speaker? because if all a 4 channel is going to do for me is allow fader control but yet give up power then I opt for a 2 channel once again. correct me if im wrong please.

no what we're telling you is

1. the SSPN2.350D is a more powerful amp than the PBR300x2
2. you're better off using a 4 channel amp or (2) 2 channel amps to accomplish your goals.
3. If you're looking for power and not concerned with anything else, go with 2 PN2.350D amps. that would give you 175x4

 

Man this audio stuff gets confusing at times! Is there a 4 channel amp out there that will do 175x4? Im not opposed to 2 PN2.350D amps but mounting both is the next problem? So if Im not concerned with anything else what would the power rating be X4 with only 1 PN2.350D running my four 4 ohm speakers in parallel?

 

if 4 identical speakers are used which brings the impedance load the amp sees to 2 ohms, the power would be split up evenly between all 4.

350/4 = 87.5w

you'd be better off with a PN4.520D which would be 100x4 @ 4 ohms. That's more than enough power to drive those speakers efficiently.

 

Thanks UN, I listed the speakers I plan to use in my original post at this point unless theres better suggestions? I see what ya mean now power ratings wise amps/speakers/ohms/etc etc....but if I did go with the PN4.520D wouldnt that technically be 130X4 not 100x4 at 4ohms?

14.4v @ 4 ohms - 100x4
14.4v @ 2 ohms - 130x4
