Only if you running an amp. These would be horrible speakers to replace your stock speakers with, if you are using the stock head unit and no amp.

These speakers are 4 ohm, and stock are 2 ohm. Would take twice as much power to produce the same sound.

My response was from person experience. I know they are 4ohm but the overall sound from stock to the 650's were very nice. Better bass response and clarity while cruising. I did the upgrade yesterday. Again, just my opinion.

GP - understand the point of 4 vs 2 ohm, but what about sensitivity? The DXi's are 92-94, vs stock being ???

half the power (4 vs 2), but twice as efficient/sensitive should equal same loudness - right? Since i don't know the specs of the stock... i'm guessing the DXi's are at least significantly (>2x) more efficient.

Still would be better when amped (more power always good). How do the DXi's compare with the MM's? Looking at specs it seems 4 ohm vs 2, 100w RMS (same handling), Not marine it seems, but SQ?

HTH!

Interesting but the specs on polk site is wrong. To confirm I just pulled the manual and box out of my garage and they are 200w peak/100w Continuous.

Just an FYI.

edit: of course it could be the other way around. The manual, sticker on speakers, box and best buy site might be wrong and polks site is right. Who knows.

The speakers are 60w rms. They are basically a DB. For the $$ and paired with an amp they work pretty good IMO. I have 4 DXI's on my ultra and just finished one with 4 DB's up front. Batwing and CVO lowers. Paired with the pbr300x2, hard to beat the total upgrade for under $300. Amp, 4 speakers and adapters.

FWIW I am going to try a PBR300x4 with 4 dxi's for someone. He listens to FM primarily and needs F/R fader operation. There has been mention that UN's may have been an early one with some issues. We'll see how it fares now that it's been out for a while.

Ive got the dxi's paired with the Pbr 300x4 5.25 in fairing 6.5 in lowers .Maybe just the location but I think the 5.25 hit harder than the 6.5 even with the fader adjusted toward the 6.5's. tempted to try the 6.5 in the fairing at this price though. All in all pretty good bang for the buck

So has anybody used the Polk 650's without an amp? I'm curious as to the result of running 4 ohm speakers on the 2 ohm system.
