Default Modified ultra classic needs better front speakers

I installed a tour-pak removal conversion kit on my 2011 ultra classic and now when I run with the pak and it's two rear speakers removed the remaining front speakers sound lousy and tinny. Any suggestions about different speakers and will an amplifier help any. I'm not real knowledgeable about audio components/theory so any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I love the way the conversion looks but not happy with the sound.

I might try upgrading the speakers to MM651's. More for overall improvement than fixing your issue, but should also help fix your issue.

I don't have an ultra but just rode one for 10 days (loaner w Buell in shop). It had an audio rocker for selecting output - any help just powering front speakers or meant for intercom and cb?

Amp'ing your setup will only help, but you will need new speakers most likely.

Before going too far about what's your budget? What kind of setup do you want? Plug and play is $$$. do it yourself is less, but still easily doable w help from folks here!

get a set of Polk MM651 speakers for the fairing, add in the RF PBR300x2 amp to drive them, leave the rears connected to the stock head unit for "fill" when the TP is on and you're golden...

Default audio

i upgraded the HD radio to a Sony CDX-GT575UP from biketronics. i did the work myself and am happy with the sound when all 4 speakers are used. i have left it so when i put the TP on i just plug those speakers back in. maybe i'll try adding the Polk MM651 speakers and maybe an amp. now about the amp, i'm not sure if i need 2 or 4 channel amp. as i said before i'm not an audiophile so i need some help. i got a lot of help from the people on this site when i did the tp removal mod so i know i'm getting good info from you guys and i really appreciate it.

not sure which speakers you're currently running but if you go with the Polks front and rear then I'd use the SS PN4.520D amp.

If not, then you could always go the other route of simply amplifying the front only and leave the rear plugged in the way they are. If you are wanting to change the rear speakers to the MM651 also and leave it connected to the head unit, the issue you're going to run into is the head unit is good down to 4 ohms. The MM651 speakers are 2.7 ohm so they'll work fine with the amp on the front, but you'll need a different speaker such as the DXi or DB series Polks which are 4 ohm for the rear.

If you do decide to amp both front and rear then the SS Pn4.520d and 2 pair of MM651 will get you great sound presense.

Great amp and i'm sure you'll love the improvement.

If you haven't seen it in other posts, there is a chance it may impact FM reception. Look at Gone Riding's ferrite core/wrap that should help.

Or you'll get no interference at all w/o any ferrite wrap... it's hit and miss. But you should know to check and see if you get less stations before/after.

This is my setup and sounds great. You can't go wrong with this for the price.
