audio build in steps
I will be doing my audio build in steps and I am wondering what ya'll think.
Will the Polk 651mm speakers give a noticeable difference to the sound over the stock speakers? Or should i just wait and do the speakers with the Rockford amp at the same time?
In the end, I would like to have the 651mm in the fairing, the 691mm in the saddlebag lids, and the Rockford pbr300 amp. I know for sure I will have to wait a while before doing the saddlebag speakers. that is a bit of change in that step.
thanks for your thoughts.

When folks are building step by step like this I always tell them to go for the speakers first, then the amp(s), then the head unit if necessary.
the MM651 will be quite different than stock speakers even on just the radio power.
Both the MM651 and MM691 are 2.7 ohm speakers so make sure whatever amp you choose later on that it's 2 ohm stable.
You can run 1 PBR300x2 on the fairing speakers and then another on the lids. 2 of those will fit side by side in the fairing.

2 amps or can I just do one?
UltraNutz,
Is there an amp that will run both the fairing speakers and the lid speakers. so I can just have one amp instead of two??? or is it just better to run two amps???

my favorite amp is the SS PN4.520D. It's a solid amp and will drive those speakers very effectively. The problem though is the EMI that this thing injects into the FM stream. It's causing issues for some, not causing issues for others (myself included). So if you're concerned about FM reception then I would not use it.
