Default My amp/speaker/head unit swap experience

First off, major props to UltraNutZ for all his help. I have on 05 EGC that had the stock pre Harmon Kardon head unit. After following the threads, I got the Soundstream amp and Polk DB651's. After installation, I lost radio reception. I didn't get it back until I changed out the amp to the Rockford Fosgate. One of the Polks didn't last 2 days before I popped one. Replaced them with the MM651's and like them much better, plus they are rated at a higher wattage. The head unit was replaced with the Sony DSX, which streams my phone and Pandora. After some trial and error, I recommend the current system of Sony, RF and MM651's. The Soundstream amp sounded great, but kills FM reception. If that's not a problem for you get one, but IMO a radio install should include a working radio. My 2 cents.

Candidly, after a week, I think the Soundstream sounded better but not at the expense of radio reception. I really appreciate all your help.

I've heard the RF 300x2 doesn't have as much low end (below 100hz) - so your experience and comparing the two - what's missing/different? Of course just subjective, but curious what you think.

Sounds like you have an "UltraNutZ" system (Polks+SS Amp, now RF 300x2), which i know a lot of folks run w/ his help leading the charge! As it's a common setup, i'm sure others would be curious what your experience is comparing amp to amp (all else being the same).

no pun intended to the RF products but what I find lacking is the "Punch". The soundstream has it without a doubt

Ageed. How it sounds is subjective, but I can say what it took far less volume control with the Soundstream to achieve the same percieved db level.
