Question Problem with rear speakers after SS amp install

Just finished installing new SS amp, rear pods and 4 Polk MM651's on a 2012 FLHTC. Fired it up with stock HU adjusted per Ultra's settings and gains set down. Sound from front speakers (Lots of sound!) but nothing from rears. Checked all connections. Still no sound. I tried increasing the gain but still nothing. I haven't been to dealers yet to have stock HU flashed because I thought that only turned on fader but outputs were still live to feed into amp. I did notice that when I was checking connections and touch the rear speaker INPUT, hear a hum come from the rear. Everything points to no output from 35 pin connector for rears. Am I missing something or do I have to have the dealer also turn on rear speakers?

May seem like a goofy question but did you plug the 35 pin connector back in?

Edit: should have added to ask how I know to check that

Yup! Also installed an iPod unit and it's working fine.

Default Rear speakers are NOT live on 2006 & later FLHTC

I found this link to the Harley kit instructions for adding rear pods and speakers on an a 2006 & later FLHTC:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J03653.pdf

The very beginning of the instructions state:

Additional Parts Required
NOTE
Even if this kit is not being installed by a Harley-Davidson
dealer, a speaker software flash must be performed on the
radio installed on the motorcycle at the dealer before the
speakers will function.

Looks like rear speaker feeds from radio are NOT live without the flash.

The dealer flash is for fader control.

You can call Tony at IRon Cross Audio to confirm.

As for the OP, my guess is the wires inserted for the rear speakers in the 35 wire connector are not inserted correctly or they are in the wrong chambers.

Took your advice Carl and rechecked all connections again, plugged front speaker input into rear amp connections and rear speakers worked fine, did continuity checks, re-crimped everything, couldn't find anything wrong BUT when I put it all back together again, IT WORKED!! Sound is awesome!

Don't know exactly what was wrong but I suspect it was the connector to the rear amp input not seated correctly.

Can't thank the forum members enough for all their help and advice!

John, glad to read your problem is solved and you're happy with the sound.

The Tyco Amp 35 position connector is a bit tricky in that one often believes the sockets are correctly installed, but aren't--been there and done that myself several years ago.
