Bluetooth Head Unit, 4V Pre-amp and iPhone 5
I've really narrowed my choice down to the Sony DSX-S310BTX. However I understand that the iPhone 5 is not a controllable or recognized device via the cable. I'm not too concerned about that as I"ll use (and prefer) the bluetooth connection.
A couple questions that I cannot find answers to.
1/ Is that true that the iPhone 5 is not recognized by the Sony DSX-S310BTX?
2/ If so, does it still charge the phone via the USB port on the head unit?
3/ Does the BT support audio from apps? I.e, Sirius, Pandora, ect?
Maybe this is the completely wrong head unit. Maybe I'm going down the wrong path. Just looking for the best (also most affordable) head unit that supports bluetooth and 4V pre-out. Also something where I could integrate the HD volume control switch down the road. iPhone 5 support would be a bonus.
Off topic: when will the integrate bluetooth into an amplifier, who needs a head unit when all you listen to is from an i-device. I know they make BT devices that you can plug into and RCA input but I'm not sure that technology is mature. Also seems that the BT device uses batteries that need recharging. That's a bitch when it's in your fairing...
Thanks!

What I've read on multiple review sites that when they plug in the iPhone 5 via the USB it will charge but does nothing more. It wil not function as an audio input device.
The only way to get music from the iPhone 5 is via BT or headphone jack. And when connected via BT you cannot use the head unit to advance songs being played from the iPhone. You must select, advance, ect songs from the phone itself.

The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT has all the features I'm looking for excluding the 4V pre-out. It's at a good price point too.
I may have to forgo the 4V out.
