Opinions on Best Amp for J&M 7.5" Speakers
I tried searching but seem to find various threads about amps and speakers but nothing really specific to my main question...this is my configuration...'08 Road Glide, faring speakers only for now...will eventually go with 4..haven't decided on tourpak speaker pods or saddlebag lid type.
My friend just sold his RG and was gracious enough to give me the J&M 7.5" standard speakers with tweeters and his Hogtune 24.2 amp...I installed them and honestly am not that impressed...I had the J&M 5.25 speakers just running off the stock radio and to me I hear very little difference...yes the amp is connected correctly and is working...I can only think that the amp is not powerful enough to drive the speakers.
So my question is..with a stock HK radio and the J&M speakers I have, what amp would you recommend for my current setup along with eventually adding rear speaker?
At the present time, I'm not looking to change out my speakers. Your opinions are appreciated.

I've got the J&M Rokkers (4 of them) and I just put a Rockford Fosgate 300w Punch, 4 channel in it. The amp is about the size of a paperback book and fits inside the Batwing just above the radio. So far I'm really impressed, the guys at Fosgate told me that Paul Yaffe uses them all the time in his bikes, but that is probably more of an Arizona thing, both companies are based here. Come to think of it all three of those companies are based here in AZ. I think I paid $155 for it. I got in online at Sonic Electronix.com

the PBR300x4 (4 channel amp) is only for 4 ohm and above speakers.
the PBR300x2 (2 channel amp) is stable down to 2 ohms.
so to answer your question, first you need to find out which J&M speakers you have. If they're the 4 ohm speakers, then you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by dropping in the PBR300x4 and running your wires to the rear for the speakers when you add them later on. If you have the 2 ohm speakers, you will not be able to use the PBR300x4 and instead if you want to stick with RF amps you'll have to go with the PBR300x2 for the front and add another for the rear.
if you setup the 2 ohm speakers on the 4 channel amp, you will cause it to clip and overheat.
